In October 13 brothers volunteered through Project Serve. Project Serve is a city-wide event that unites churches and their congregations by completing service projects throughout Lincoln. Led by Mom Cindy, Kappa Chapter’s members spread mulch and completed other small landscaping projects along a nature trail in town.
The Big Event is an annual campus-wide service event centered on giving back to the community. Started in 1983 at Texas A&M, The Big Event focuses on giving back as a way for students to say “Thank You” and express appreciation to their respective communities. In its fifth year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Kappa Chapter spent an afternoon improving Lincoln.

2009 Barn Party
Kappa Chapter’s annual Barn Party featured Stoney Larue and the Arsenals at Uncle Ron’s. Undergraduate brothers raised awareness and sold tickets to the event, and over three hundred people attended raising over $1500 for the Children’s Hospital of Omaha. Stoney Larue and The Aresenals play Red Dirt country similar to that of The Mike McClure Band, Jason Boland, and Cross Canadian Ragweed. The Children’s Hospital of Omaha serves infants through adolescents and promotes health care education and research. For additional ways to give, follow the link below.
2010 Hog Roast
Each spring Kappa Chapter hosts the annual Hog Roast, and 2010 was no exception with the event held at the chapter house April 22. Brothers sold tickets and publicized the event across campus, smoked the meat, and had a great time while raising over $2,250 for the Farm Crisis Response Council while having the largest attendance ever! The agency specializes in helping farmers with financial and legal advice in times of trouble and is an organization the chapter feels is of significant importance given the agricultural ideals of Alpha Gamma Rho.
